Security Guidelines relating to Electromagnetic Emission and Immunity
The Information Security Technology Study Group (IST), established on September 27th, 2001, is a non-profit organization of forty-one enterprises with the view to promoting the objectives listed at the end of this statement.

The IST proudly introduces the Security Guidelines relating to Electromagnetic Emission and Immunity (Draft), which has been compiled based on the present policy for information security of Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications, and of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Today we will present the outline of the Guidelines.

The Guidelines is intended to serve as a guidance for finding solutions for problems on the information leakage through electromagnetic emission and immunity, which is a great concern of late, for both government and private sectors.

The draft, introduced today, consists of the fundamental outline of requirements of IT equipment, buildings and appropriate distance, the design standard for construction work, the test methods including measurement procedure and countermeasures.

Details on requirements for electromagnetic emission are now under consideration. The revised and updated edition is prospected to complete in the 2003 fiscal year.
